what was there?
The hope of the stone for the flesh?
the dream of the fish for the dry land?
the fear of the storm for the calm
similar to that of the wave sighting the beach?
the wind rocking the trees
waiting for
of wet lips to dry?
the deep mineral before it is smelted?
the creeper before the pruning?
the wine before the first harvest?
Perhaps before memories
there was nothing
only inert or living materials
only more or less complex molecules
no name
no order
Before memories
the world was unconscious
It was purely mineral
vegetable
animal
The water falling from the sky was not rain
nor were the vast spaces filled with it
were not yet seas or oceans or lakes
The lights in the sky were not stars or planets
Because before the first memory
there was no God
nor brotherhood nor hope
nor delirium nor love
nor war nor peace
Before the first memory
there was no verb
not even the noun
nor adjectives
After the first memory
everything was possible
and only then
the world was created
with the word.
